The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 886, proudly honor the service and sacrifice of Veterans of our community and America in a “Field of Flags” which will be on display at Union Point Park November 8th through 12th.
This year, the fourth year for the event, Vietnam Veterans will place over 600 flags in an orderly display at the gazebo.
What is special about the flags? They are more than small red and white strips sewn together with stars bound in a canton of blue. Each flag is special; attached to the flag is a small tag that notes the name and service information provided by a loved one, fellow veteran or friend during the recent MumFest Celebration.
It is a silent event, a time for those that care to reflect and appreciate the service and sacrifice of their special veteran and Veteran’s Day.
The “Field of Flags’, displayed in alphabetical groups, will be illuminated for night viewing. Additional flags and tags will be available at the gazebo for those that want to honor their veteran.
