New Bern Parks and Recreation is recruiting volunteers for Kidsville 2.0 Build Week starting July 15 – July 21 from 8:00 a.m. – dusk every day.
The build will be held at 1225 Pinetree Drive.
It is a community build and we are looking for around 140 volunteers for each shift (total of 3 shifts each day). The first shift is from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, lunch is 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 pm, the second shift is 12:30 to 5:00 p.m., dinner is 5 to 5:30 pm, and the third shift is 5:30 p.m. to dusk (between 8 and 9 p.m.).
Lunch and dinner will be provided each day along with childcare. Ages 10 and up are welcome to help with the build. Ages 18 and up are welcome to use power tools. If someone is not able to volunteer, we are accepting donated or loaned tools for the build.
Tools Needed for Kidsville 2.0:
▪ 3 – Slide compound miter saws
▪ 4 – Power Miter Saws
▪ 2 – 1/2” cordless impact gun
▪ 8 – Orbital Jig saws
▪ 30 – 3/8” cordless drills: variable speed and reversable. Must have battery and charger. Extra battery needed if available
▪ 40 – 1/4” cordless impact driver: must have battery and charger extra battery needed if available
▪ 30 – bubble levels 36’ or longer
▪ 12 – Routers: 1 router with an edge guide
▪ 1 – Router table
▪ 10 – 7 1/4” circular saws
▪ 25 pr. – saw horses
▪ 30 – 6” speed squares
▪ 60 – 25’ tape measures
▪ 3 – small portable mechanics tool sets
▪ 60 – 25’ drop cords
▪ 80- pairs of work gloves
▪ 10 – hammers 16-22 ounce
▪ 30 – nail aprons
▪ 60 – safety glasses
▪ 1 – band saw
