Oktoberfest proceeds support the Club’s “Kicks for Kids” program, providing for the purchase of over 300 pairs of shoes for elementary school children in Craven County. Each year, school counselors identify those youth most in need and provide transportation to Coastal Sole where they can pick out a properly fitted pair of shoes. Rotary recognized the critical need of some children lacking basic shoes. This program goes a long way towards building self-esteem, especially for kids bullied or made fun of just because they don’t have proper footwear.

The New Bern Breakfast Rotary Club also sponsors two local Interact Clubs and awards several scholarships each year to local teens who are continuing their education. In addition to youth oriented projects, the Club also prepares and serves meals at Religious Community Services on the first Friday of every month, and cleans up an adopted a section of Hwy. 70 west off Glenburnie Rd. on a regular basis.

The Club invites all those interested in learning more about Rotary to join them for breakfast at Famous Restaurant 2210 Neuse Blvd. every Thursday at 7:30am – 8:30am.
