“New Paintings” is painter Neil Vendrick’s first solo show in New Bern and his first exhibition of new work in three years. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1977, he has dedicated his life to art-making. Working in oils, drawing and prints, Vendrick toes the fine line separating the abstract from the representational.
“It’s all painting, these descriptors are just literature,” he says, when asked about his subject matter. Vendrick paints every day, no matter what. He follows the mantra of Pablo Picasso who said, “Inspiration exists, but it must find you working.” Vendrick’s exhibit will run through to the end of April at Brewery 99, open every Friday and Saturday, from 2pm to 10pm at 417 F off Broad Street in New Bern.
