The Aerie Bed and Breakfast located in historic downtown New Bern is the first lodging property in the area to offer free charging stations for its guests who are owners of an electric or hybrid car according to Michael Gunhus, co-owner of The Aerie. “We are proud to be members of Select Registry, an organization of over 300 Distinguished Bed and Breakfasts in the country that has taken the initiative to provide charging stations for guests needing to recharge their batteries in more ways than one,” stated Gunhus.
Select Registry, in cooperation with Tesla Motors, the manufacturer of the finest luxury electric cars available; have joined in this effort to establish charging stations throughout the country at member Bed and Breakfasts. Tesla provides a mapping system on the car’s GPS system so travelers may confidently travel and know they will be able to find a suitable charging station. The Tesla charging system installed at The Aerie has the unique charging connector needed by Tesla cars. Also provided is a second charging unit capable of providing a charge for any electric vehicle or EV. This portion of the charging station has been provided by ClipperCreek, Inc.
“We offer charging at no cost to our guests staying at The Aerie and we will allow anyone else to charge their EV at a nominal fee. Simply make an appointment by calling our front desk to arrange a time,” stated Marty Gunhus, co-owner of The Aerie.
