>Temple B’nai Sholem in New Bern will be conducting a special Sabbath service honoring Holocaust Memorial Day on Friday, April 9, at 7:30 pm.
On April 12, 1951 Israel’s Knesset passed a resolution proclaiming the 27th of Nisan “the Holocaust and Ghetto Uprising Remembrance Day.” The date was specifically chosen to fall between the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising and the observance of Israel Independence Day. This year that date is April 11, 2010. Residents of our area wishing to attend this special service are welcome. Founded in 1908, Temple B’nai Sholem is located at 505 Middle Street in New Bern’s beautiful Historic District, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The temple provides a house of worship for 121 members residing within our six coastal counties region.
