The Craven County Veterans’ Council will host its annual Veterans Day Luncheon on November 11th at the Temple Baptist Church located at 1500 Kingdom Way, New Bern, NC.
This is a free lunch for all veterans and their guest. The purpose of the luncheon is to honor the service and sacrifice of living veterans which include the nearly 20,000 veterans of Craven County.
The program will commence 11 a.m. with patriotic music provided by the Havelock Community Band, followed by the Marine Corps League Cherry Point Det. #1067 presentation of the National Colors, singing of the National Anthem by Sam Lewis, Pledge of Allegiance and remarks by Mark Sandvigen 1st Vice Commander of American Legion Post 539 celebrating the American Legion’s 100 Anniversary. Our program will conclude with presentations of the Craven County Veteran of the Year and Lifetime Achievement awards.
The lunch menu is Carolina style barbecue, with sides, cake and refreshments.
Veterans with mobility needs will be assisted by the Craven County Hospice and Red Cross volunteers.
Please bring with you proof of service; a North Carolina driver’s license with veteran notation, DD 214, VA medical card, or membership to the Craven County veteran’s organization. Lunch will conclude at 1 p.m.
