Jacksonville Builds Better Community with Opening of New River YMCA

The YMCA

Jacksonville, NC — Jacksonville is about to get healthier in mind, body and spirit. On October 24, 2019 the New River YMCA will open its doors at 159 Chaney Avenue. The new facility includes a Group Exercise studio, a Community Room, and a Child Watch area.

Todd Shuart, Eastern Carolina YMCA’s President & CEO, says he is excited to bring the Y’s mission to the community. “The Y is more than a place to work out — we’re a place of community. Of course, members will have access to classes, Child Watch and community programs, but there will be so much more. We have already begun offering programs outside the walls of our building, like Summer Day Camps and Before & After School care at multiple Onslow County School Sites.”

The New River YMCA is having a Grand Opening on October 24, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. where community members can tour the new facility, speak with staff and sign up to become a Y member.

The New River YMCA is opening thanks to numerous donations from community members and various grants. Those who would like to contribute may still do so by contacting Kelly Millington at 252-638-8799 or visiting the Y after it opens on October 24th.
