Every visit to Mitchell Hardware is a fun experience. We love catching up with owners, Lindsay Sims and Winnie Smith, and of course, wander the aisles looking at all the unique goods and supplies!
They’re excited to announce their upcoming event on Saturday, February 16th. As it’s the week of Valentine’s Day, it’s Date Night! That doesn’t mean that you have to bring a date. They encourage everyone to join in the fun! Lindsay wants to make it clear, “It’s for people you love and want to spend time with”. Winnie added, “It’s for couples, good friends, or just bring yourself…you may meet somebody”.
It’s going to be a fun-filled night for you to enjoy wine and coffee tastings, music and dancing, and they’ll even have a photo booth to capture your memories. This is a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new ones!
Another highlight is the Scavenger Hunt. Lindsay said, “The Scavenger Hunt is something we’re really excited about because it’s something fun that we can do to bring people to all sides of the store”. Winnie added, “We’ve noticed a lot of people that come in to the store and go straight to the garden center, or smoke house, or nail bins. This will encourage everyone to explore the entire store and if you finish the scavenger hunt, you’ll receive a 10% discount!”
Lindsay and Winnie are excited to prepare barbecue sliders and sides to go with it including candied jalapenos, pickled quail eggs, hot bacon cheddar dip, and sweet treats like raspberry cheesecake to name a few. Winnie noted, “Everything we’re making, probably 80% of it, are items that we sell in the store”.
Winnie brought up the photo booth. She said, “Because it’s Valentine’s Day we figure why not do a photo booth so we’re gonna have streamers and a boa and we have our good friend who will take photos to post on Mitchell’s Facebook page”.
Lindsay mentioned, “We’ll have Bellator Roasting Company’s coffee.” Winnie added, “We have our very own custom blend, Mitchell’s Bourbon Pecan, it’s been a big hit and it’s roasted right here in New Bern”!
Winnie encouraged everyone to, “Come before or after dinner, it’s always a good time and we have as much fun as our guests do.” Lindsay said, “We’ll catch people singing and dancing in the halls, on a daily basis, but especially during events.”
I couldn’t wait for Date Night to try the pickled quail eggs and they’re delicious. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on February 16th from 6 – 8 p.m.
Thank you, Lindsay, Winnie, and the Mitchell Hardware family for coming up with these fun events and offering must needed items and specialty products to our community! It’s much more than a store, it’s a large part of the fabric that makes Downtown New Bern so special. It’s a gathering place and you’re always welcomed with a greeting and “Do you need any help finding anything”!
