AH Bangert Elementary School (AHB) is hosting a Super Hero Literacy Night for all of Gotham’s (AHB) children and families on Tuesday, November 14th. A free hot dog dinner will take place from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. which includes a surprise visit from BATMAN. Batman will be showing off his reading skills during this time while he reads selected books to the families.
From 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., students and families will visit appropriate grade levels where teachers will lead literacy activities that will include writing, reading, and arts and crafts.
This Super Hero Night is sponsored by Title I Federal Programs and the AHB PTA in an effort to increase family involvement in school. Ongoing research shows that family engagement in schools improves student achievement, reduces absenteeism, and helps increase parents’ confidence in their child’s education. Ms. Catherine Alligood, Principal shares, “at AH Bangert Elementary we feel family literacy night is important because it gives our families a time to come together to celebrate reading while also learning strategies and skills to reinforce what our students learn every day in the classroom.”
