Downtown Dare race on Saturday, April 1st in New Bern: The entire family can participate in this race of wits and speed! The fastest is not necessarily going to win. Make fun memories with your family!
Join us for this unique event in New Bern on Saturday, April 1st!! The Downtown Dare is a team event in which participants solve clues to find checkpoints all around the beautiful, historic downtown area of New Bern, NC.
Registration begins at the empty field beside Persimmons/The Galley near the circle at Broad and East Front Streets at 8:30 a.m. and the race will start at 10 a.m.
This is a race for everyone (all ages), because brainpower can beat those who may be faster. Bring your family and friends down for a day of memory making, mental and physical challenge and FUN!
Teams of 2, 3 or 4 will use smart phones to find the answers to some tricky questions about New Bern’s rich history before racing from checkpoint to checkpoint. At each checkpoint, participants will either take photos of themselves or have a card stamped (some stations will be physical challenges like jumping rope while others will simply be posing for a photo). Your team will need to stay together throughout the race and can only walk or run (NO wheels except strollers). The race should last 2 to 4 hours for most people.
In addition to the grand prize, there will be additional surprises handed out for best costume and a few other categories. Please bring a pen, water and a smart phone with a working camera. Proceeds benefit the Open Door Scholarship at The Epiphany School of Global Studies in New Bern, NC.
