Craven County Schools’ Superintendent, Dr. Lane B. Mills, has received and accepted an offer from the Wilson County Board of Education to join their system as Superintendent, effective July 1, 2016. While the Craven County Board of Education expresses regret in Dr. Mills’ decision to leave us, we wish him well in this future endeavor, and thank him for the leadership he has provided over these past four years. The Craven County Board of Education will immediately begin the process of identifying and selecting our new Superintendent.
In the interim, the board has complete confidence in our Leadership Team to continue our work and journey forward. It is at times like this, we are reminded how crucial leadership development is, from the classroom to the board room, for an effective and strong system. Our leaders at all levels will make this transition a smooth one for our staff, students and community.
