Democrats from across eastern NC districts and the state will gather on April 1 – 2, 2016 at the Riverfront Convention Center in New Bern, NC for a “Downeaster” weekend to prepare for the 2016 elections. The Downeaster will be the first unity event sponsored by the Democratic Party to highlight the Democratic nominees selected in the March 15 primary. The event is an opportunity to meet candidates, obtain training, network with fellow Democrats, and discuss policies, legislation, and their effects on the North Carolina schools, the economy, and the quality of life for our citizens.
The agenda for this two day event includes an informal welcome reception sponsored by the North Carolina Democratic Party scheduled for Friday, April 1. A full day of events planned for Saturday, April 2, include a Welcome Breakfast Buffet sponsored by the Democratic Women of Craven County, trade show, silent auction, training, and fundraising events, a three district executive meeting and a Celebrate Our Candidates Unity Dinner, featuring state-wide and local candidates and entertainment by the Outer Banks Philharmonic.
