Schools Across the District Honor Local Veterans

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is next week and the students at several of Craven County Schools are in the process of making preparations to honor these special men and women for their service.

In observation of the holiday please see the following activities planned at the schools listed:

– AH Bangert Elementary will also hold an assembly on November 10th at 8:45 a.m. with specials guests in attendance. The program will include performances from New Bern High School Select Choir, Bangert student readers as well as a summary video of the history of Veterans Day. A video presentation will also feature staff relatives who have served for our country.

– Tucker Creek Middle continues to show their support in their annual door decorating contest. Teachers and students decorate their classroom door with the theme of Veterans Day and what it means to them. The door decorations will stay on the doors until the end of November.

– Roger Bell Elementary will hold a Veterans Day assembly on November 10th at 1:30 p.m.  The program included 4th and 5th graders singing a selection of songs dedicated to veterans, a short student play, and a performance by the Roger Bell Dance Team.

A few other schools who will participate in recognizing veterans are: Trent Park Elementary by having their students write thank you notes and Ben D. Quinn by talking about Veterans Day during its morning announcements.

For all of our Veterans on this Veterans Day, know that Craven County Schools’ faculty, staff, and students appreciate you and continue to share the importance of this special day.
