What is Laughter Yoga? The Coastal Women’s Forum learned firsthand

The Coastal Women’s Forum is the only community group that I’ve been a member of for a few years now. Although they have 2 meetings a month, one dinner and the other lunch, I usually attend the luncheon at the Emerald Golf and Country Club.

Each month they have a guest speaker and I always learn something from every one of them. This month was particularly interesting as I’ve been meaning to check out the Laughter Yoga class offered by A Hopeful Balance.

I’ve heard of laughter yoga, but until Hope Bucher and Angela Needham from A Hopeful Balance demonstrated and told us about the benefits, I had no idea that it would have such a positive impact on the mind and body.

Angela described yoga being a healthy habit helping to cope with stress. She’s described laughter yoga as “non-political, non-religious, non-competitive, non-perfectionist, and non-judgmental that really brings people together and find a common ground to be able to laugh”.

I admit that I need to develop an exercise routine as I haven’t seriously worked out in a long time. After observing the Laughter Yoga Class and listening to Angela describe the benefits of laughter yoga, I think I’m going to sign up for classes.

Enjoy the above video and get a glimpse of what Laughter Yoga is all about!

Join the New Bern Yoga Club on the second Tuesday of the Month at 12pm at Union Point Park. Please contact Angela and/or Hope at A Hopeful Balance as this is something that is a “must do” in order for you to have a real experience!
