With the help from our community, our friend, Thea Kincaid of Thea’s Ideas created “New Bern Get Your Pink On” Event last year. It was a great turnout as they raised money for breast cancer. This year, “Get Your Pink On” has taken on a life of its own as locals have taken on the challenge of dressing in pink, getting their photo/video taken, sharing it on social media, and challenging others to spread the message. Even the “Bear Town Bears” have their own challenge!
I stopped by the Sterling House to learn more about the Craven County Healthcare Networking Group for their “Get Your Pink On” Party.
The following agencies are involved in this productive networking group: Accommodating Home Care, Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s North Carolina (Regional Representative-Greenville Office), Bayada Senior Care, Bayview Nursing & Rehab Center, Brookstone Living Center, Care2U, Coastal Radiology Associates, Community Hospice, Courtyards at Berne Village, Craven County Health Department Hospice, Croatan Village, Eastern Carolina Council Agency on Aging, Family Medical Supply, Friendly Caregivers, Friendly Medical Transport Company, Gentiva Home Health, Good Shepard HFA, Home Instead, Homeplace of New Bern, Liberty Home Health & Hospice, Life Solutions of Eastern NC, LLC, McCarthy Court, NOAH, Project C.A.R.E. (Regional Reprehensive), Riverpoint Crest, Seniors Choosing to Live At Home, and Sterling House.
Some of the people were decked out in some creative pink costumes and they had a fun game similar to the white elephant gift exchange with a “pink twist”! Everyone was given a pink bag as a gift and they were asked to take the bag and pay it forward by doing something for a cancer survivor.
January Brown with the Eastern Carolina Agency on Aging and Mary Lou Infinito of Friendly Medical Transportation presented a challenge for healthcare professionals in Craven County…watch the video to learn more!
We hope you come to the New Bern Get Your Pink On event on October 23 from 5 – 7pm in the Isaac Taylor Gardens, 228 Craven Street, New Bern.
