Adopt a trained “New Leash on Life” dog!

nlol_dogs_oct_2013Sassafrax. She was adopted from the shelter three times – none of the adoptions turned out to be good for her. One kept this little cutie tied in the back yard. Now her luck has changed! As a member of the New Leash on Life program, she will find a wonderful furever home where she will be loved.

Sassafras is a spayed female, Spitz mix. She is about two years old and weighs 20 lbs.  She has a fuzzy, thick, soft coat with a curly tail. She is high energy and affectionate, friendly and loves kids, cats and all people.

Sassafras is now in the New Leash on Life program at the Craven Correctional Institution where she is learning basic obedience and agility, house manners, crate and leash training. This training will make her a great companion dog for either a family or single person.

Mateo is a wonderful mix of Lab and Sharpei. He is black, tan and white with adorable brown eyebrows. Mateo is about a year old and weighs 32 lbs. He is really smart and already knows a few commands. He is very playful and will be a great family dog with older children. He is active and will need a lot of playtime. A fenced in yard is recommended so that he can run and chase a ball.

Currently, Mateo is at the Craven Correctional Institution being trained by an inmate on basic obedience and agility as well as crate trained, leash trained and housebroken.  He will be “move-in ready” for a lucky family at Graduation on January 8th. Would you like to bring him home? He would make a great Christmas present for your children. Just put his picture in their Christmas stocking.

Izzy is a red/blonde colored Shih tzu/Shiba Inu mix. Don’t ask me what that is. All I know is that he is adorable. He is 8 months old and weighs 25 lbs. This boy is high energy and would be good with older children and other dogs. He is Mr. Personality and is a lot of fun. He will keep you entertained. His hair is soft and a little wirey. He will need brushing but probably not grooming.

Oliver is a neutered male, 3 or 4 years old and weighs 16 lbs. His creamy hair is long and silky. He will need grooming. He has the cutest under-bite that Maltese mixes are known for. This little guy is medium energy and would love to be a lap dog. He is friendly, affectionate and good with older kids. Are you looking for a companion dog?  Oliver may be your boy!
