Stressful Trip ends with a Night of Camping in an Indian Teepee!

You may have noticed that I haven’t been updating New Bern Now as often as I usually do, as I’ve been helping my folks move into Senior Living in Western NY.

I’m sure there are some of you who can relate to the stress that a family goes through during a senior move. I plan on writing about ways to help cope with this topic in a future article.

In the meantime, I want to share a unique outdoor adventure with you!

As you probably already know; I’m always looking for new ways to release stress by getting back to nature and enjoying the great outdoors. I stopped by the Enfield/Rocky Mount KOA to check out their facilities on the way back to New Bern this past weekend.

I was really surprised to see authentic Indian teepees as I’ve never seen one up close before. I was ready to get back to New Bern and didn’t have plans on staying the night, until I saw them!

The teepees intrigued me, so I visited the owners, Jim and Laura Bell at the office and gift shop to find out more. Jim told me that it only cost $25 per night.

After looking inside the teepees, I got back on the road. Driving for awhile, I couldn’t get the images out of my mind and thought it would be an interesting camping experience. Being stressed out from the move and long drive, I needed to take time to decompress so I turned around and headed back to the Enfield/Rocky Mounty KOA.

This family owned campground is very quiet, friendly, and clean! They have all kinds of things to do! They have a playground, volleyball court, miniature golf, horseshoe pits, cornhole/bean bag toss, game room, pool table, fenced in dog run, fishing and much more!

I really appreciated the hospitality of Jim and Laura Bell and their Sons for a wonderful experience. Jim noticed that I was sitting on the ground next to the campfire and was kind enough to bring me a chair.

The campers were very friendly and there was a couple staying in an RV who actually brought me firewood that they collected so I gave them a teepee tour!

The Enfield KOA offers many amenities to include: Kitchen, meeting room, Indian teepees, cabins, tent sites, RV sites, propane, firewood, Wi-Fi, and more!

Find out more by visiting Jim and Laura Bell at the Enfield/Rocky Mount KOA, 101 Bell Acres, Enfield, NC, call 800-562-5894 or 252-445-5925, send them an email, or visit their website.

If you don’t have time to drive to Enfield, New Bern has a wonderful KOA that I stay at when I need a mini-getaway! Here’s one of New Bern Now’s articles about our local New Bern KOA. Say hello to Pat and Larry Holtzclaw for me! Visit them at 1565B Street (off hwy 17) in Bridgeton.
