New Bern Now stands out from other local news — we are completely independent of influence. We want to continue but can no longer absorb the cost. We’ve been serving our community for 13 years. Now, we need our community’s support.
NBN has grown into a multi-media company connecting you with the people, places, and happenings in New Bern & Beyond. We’ve managed to hang on in the age of news deserts because we love what we do as community servants.
We have been mostly self-funded since we stopped printing the magazine during the pandemic. It was a major revenue source with ads. We started covering local government and other important topics because nobody else was with the exception of a couple of hot topics like the Kessler Group MOU related to Union Point Park.
Our readership continues to grow, as the website alone receives over 52,000+/- pageviews per month not to mention the social media sites and the New Bern Bulletin with over 15,200 followers. This doesn’t include statistics from Talk New Bern or NBN’s YouTube channel.
How can you help?
– Make a one-time contribution or pay a monthly subscription.
– Volunteer to cover local sports, education, health and wellness, arts and entertainment, history, local government, etc. The more well-balanced and multiskilled voices we have, the more successful we’ll be in delivering quality local news to our community.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our efforts as our work wouldn’t be possible without readers, viewers, and listeners like you.
NBN’s Media Coordinator, Cyndi Papia, is taking the helm for the next week as I take a short respite.
