Children’s Artwork on Display at Bank of the Arts to benefit Outreach Programs
January 2 – 12, 2019
Craven Arts Council & gallery is proud to present “Bear Face Tesselations” in the Main Gallery at Bank of the Arts January 2nd to the 12th. Featuring uniquely decorated bear faces, these pieces will be for sale for $1 each to support outreach programs by the Craven Arts Council. Craven Arts will host an opening reception for the exhibition during the downtown New Bern Artwalk and Potters’ Throwdown, January 11th, from 5pm-8pm.
Originally designed by local artist and former CAC&G Director Carol Tokarski, the Bear Faces Project features cardstock bear tiles that form a tessellation when laid together. Cravens Arts Council sent bear tiles to local schools and hosted special events to decorate the tiles, including Mumfest and holiday workshops, and distributed them to visitors in the galleries at Bank of the Arts. Over 1000 tiles were submitted back to the Arts Council for the two-week display in January. Each bear face is priced at $1, and all proceeds benefit outreach programs by the Craven Arts Council.
Admission to all galleries at Bank of the Arts is free and open to the public, Tuesday thru Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
