April 14 – “Slave Voices of North Carolina,” presented by Dr. Lucinda MacKethan. Dr. MacKethan’s presentation will introduce the personal narratives, letters, poetry and interviews of North Carolina slaves and discuss how these works fill in a lost or often distorted picture of slavery in our state before the Civil War. April 16 – “Let’s Talk About It” Book Discussion Series. This session, the last in the series, is “War and Freedom.” The visiting scholar, Dr. Gerald Prokopowicz, Chair of the History Department at ECU, will lead the discussion of America’s War Anthology, part five. April 21 – Saturday Afternoon at the Movies. This month’s featured film is “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” A middle-aged husband’s life changes dramatically when his wife asks him for a divorce. He seeks to rediscover his manhood with the help of a new-found friend Jacob, learning to pick up girls at bars. This movie is rated PG-13. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
