“One Million Bones is a social action arts installation designed to raise awareness of genocides and atrocities going on around the world. The main focus is on making people aware what’s happening in the Sudan, the Congo and Burma, and providing an opportunity for them to take action in response.” – www.onemillionbones.org
Events are being held throughout North Carolina, which will result in 2,500 bones being installed in Raleigh on the weekend of April 28, 2012. You are invited to become part of a bone-making team in New Bern at any of the locations listed below. You can attend 1, or all 3. Please let us know so that we have enough clay on hand. You don’t need any artistic experience, only a good heart.
April 7 from 1 – 4pm:
Craven Arts Council
317 Middle Street, New Bern, NC
252-6382577
Michaelé Rose Artist Studio
413B Broad Street
2526260120
Michaelé is also doing another Bone Party at Craven Community College for their fair April 12th, 6 – 8pm. It’s open to the public and all can attend!
All bones made in North Carolina will be on display in Raleigh at the Capitol on April 28th. From there all bones go to New Mexico where the artist lives and then all bones that have been made in all the states and countries will be traveling to Washington DC to be displayed on the National Mall in Spring 2013.
Michealé will have a jar for donations if anyone wants to donate to the cause, or sponsor to make a bone in someone else’s name, but coming to make bones is FREE and no donation is necessary.
