A Candlelight Christmas Celebration returns Dec. 9 & 16
Tryon Palace’s 2017 Candlelight Christmas Celebration returns on the Saturdays of Dec. 9 and 16, from 4:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Inspired by traditions of giving that date back to the colonial period, “Seasons of Giving” brings Candlelight Christmas Celebration to Tryon Palace for its 37th year with decorations inspired by the 12 Days of Christmas, historic characters in period clothing and holiday vignettes spanning across three centuries.
Along with the different eras and scenes portrayed in the Governor’s Palace and historic homes, visitors will enjoy the sounds of Tryon Palace’s Fife and Drum Corps and Jonkonnu troupe, as well as circus acts, fire eating, sword swallowing, acrobatics and 18th-century magic tricks from The Pickled Brothers Circus, Rodney the Younger, Signora Bella and more.
Food will be available to purchase from a food truck located outside the Palace gates. Visitors can also stop by The Plucked Peacock Tavern to grab a seat and enjoy beer, wine and delicious baked goods. Each night ends with a display of black powder fireworks illuminating the night sky over Tryon Palace.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for youth. Tryon Palace Foundation members can receive discounted tickets at $18 for adults and $8 for youth.
“Seasons of Giving: A Candlelight Christmas Celebration” is sponsored by First Citizens Bank, the 2017 Candlelight Title Sponsor, and Public Radio East.
