Monarch’s Project Cupid Aims to Share Joy, Raise Funds!
Valentine’s-themed gifts prepared by supported individuals

Preparations are underway for the first Monarch Project Cupid Fundraiser in New Bern, N.C. This Valentine’s-themed event provides people supported by Monarch with an opportunity to actively contribute to fundraising efforts for the organization.

The event is a 16-year tradition for the organization, which provides support and resources to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, and substance abuse issues throughout North Carolina. However, this is the first year that participants in New Bern will take part.

Monarch teams, made up of support staff and those supported, gather together to create Valentine gift packages for lucky recipients all over Craven County. Project Cupid gifts include an adorable plush stuffed bear, chocolate candy, a delicious muffin, hot chocolate mix, and a personalized card. Each Project Cupid gift is only $12.50, including free delivery in Craven County. All proceeds help those supported by Monarch.

Jackie McGowen, executive assistant at Monarch, is especially pleased that so many benefit from this project, “The best part about Project Cupid is that it is such a feel good event. The person sending the package feels good about whom they are sending to and about supporting Monarch. The recipient gets a thoughtful surprise. And, the folks at Monarch have the chance to work on something special while raising money for their cause.”

To send a Project Cupid Gift to someone special, just call Eileen Bress, Community Coordinator at
