>Spotlight on Wabi-Sabi

>
Wabi-Sabi is a charming, old-style shop with a medley of arts and crafts featuring a number of local artisan works along with crafts collected over time.

Wondering about the name Wabi-Sabi? Proprietor Kathleen Fleming described the Japanese phrase Wabi-Sabi as something of beauty with an imperfect blemish, making the piece one of a kind.

Browsing through this quaint shop and outdoor gallery, I couldn’t help but marvel at the beautiful craftsmanship. From a tray made of twigs; Raku ware; painted gourds; bark carvings; baby clothing; collectible dolls; needlepoint; furniture; to metal work, Wabi-Sabi has something for everyone. My favorite was a marble slab delicately painted with a little girl holding her Ragedy Ann Doll.

Kathleen offers consignment options for local artists. Wabi-Sabi hosts works from Gayle Seiple and Woodworker Adolf Mikitiuk to name a few of New Bern’s own.

You can also purchase organic herbs and vegetables and Kathleen welcomes local farmers to sell their organic produce at Wabi-Sabi.

Kathleen is also a GRI and CRS Real Estate Broker with Tyson &mp Hooks Realty, Inc.
Wabi-Sabi is located at 3719 A-Trent Rd., New Bern, NC, 252-671-0456.

Thank you, Kathleen, for the enlightening tour of your neat shop! I have been telling my friends that Wabi-Sabi is a must visit!
