“5 for 5” Will Raise Money for a New Area Youth Baseball Park
The Together4Tanner Foundation today announced the launch of the 5 for 5 campaign, a nationwide fundraising effort with the goal of encouraging 500,000 people to give $5 to the Foundation. With this money, the Foundation will build a memorial baseball park in Craven County which will serve all the youth baseball leagues in the area.
The 5 for 5 campaign is officially launching in November, the five month anniversary of Tanner’s passing.
“We choose not to focus on how he died, but rather how he lived,” said Trish Webb, Tanner’s mother and president of the Foundation. “Tanner’s passion was his family, baseball and his community. This campaign epitomizes all that he loved in life.”
The Together4Tanner Foundation was established after Tanner’s passing in June 2014 as a memorial to Tanner and to positively impact the local community in his name. The Foundation’s purpose is to raise charitable funds for investment in future recreation projects in the city of New Bern and Craven County, NC. The Foundation will also work to raise funds that support academic scholarships for student/athletes in the same area.
“While 500,000 people may sounds ambitious, there are nearly 10 million people in North Carolina alone,” stated Trish. “I truly believe we can make our goal, but not without the help of everyone near and far.”
The Together4Tanner Foundation is looking for $5 donations throughout the state.
“We think it’s important to go statewide with this effort to help expedite the process and maximize the level of support,” said Matt Webb, Tanner’s father. “Whether you are in New Bern or Charlotte, baseball and the spirit of giving certainly has no boundaries.”
To donate to the 5 for 5 campaign, please visit www.together4tanner.org or mail in your contribution to PO Box 15341, New Bern, NC, 28561. The Foundation’s tax ID number is 47-1398831.
