It was a beautiful and sunny day in New Bern today, so I decided to take a stroll throughout the Historic Downtown District.
I stopped by the Aerie Bed and Breakfast (B & B) and met Marty and Michael Gunhus, owners of this lovely Historic Inn. While Marty was busy checking in a guest, Michael was kind enough to take me on a tour of this delightful Victorian Inn built in 1882.
The Aerie B & B offers seven exquisite and spacious guest rooms, each with their own bathrooms. Some of the baths are Jacuzzi style and were very inviting! With the Victorian Age décor, each room is charming and reflects a special kind of warmth.
Their dining room is very elegant. Marty cooks a full breakfast and guests have the option to choose from three entrees.
In the evening, relax in the parlor and enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres. Then take in the view from the second story balcony. As I stood on the outdoor balcony, I imagined it was the perfect spot to watch the fireworks display from Tryon Palace.
