Mayor Dana Outlaw will join local U.S. Cellular associates and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain at a celebration to recognize the winners of the fifth annual Black History Month Art Contest.
The contest invited members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain to create an original 8.5 x 11 piece of artwork in recognition of influential African-Americans, including business people, athletes, historical figures and celebrities. The public voted on the top 10 finalists’ entries throughout the month of February at the local U.S. Cellular store in New Bern. Winners will be announced and awarded the following prizes:
– $250 for 1st Place
– $150 for 2nd Place
– $100 for 3rd Place
The awards will be presented on Thursday, March 7, 5 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain, J.T. Barber Elementary School Unit, 1700 Cobb St., New Bern, N.C.
