Documentary will Show Aug. 24 at N.C. History Center
Christopher Everett’s film “Wilmington on Fire” will be presented for a second time at the North Carolina History Center on Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.
“Wilmington on Fire” is an 89-minute feature length documentary on the 1898 Wilmington Massacre in Wilmington. The film shows and documents the event that introduced Jim Crow segregation in North Carolina. The film has won numerous awards and has screened at several universities and film festivals such as the 2015 Cucalorus Film Festival, 2016 North Carolina Black Film Festival, 2016 Sankofa Film Festival, 2017 Pan African Film Festival and recently the 2017 Longleaf Film Festival in which “Wilmington on Fire” won ‘Best Historical Documentary Feature.’
Viewers will walk away from the film with increased knowledge and awareness of the impact of the Wilmington Massacre.
Following the film, there will be a question and answer session with Christopher Everett, writer, film director and film producer from Laurinburg. He has experience in film, graphic arts and marketing. He is a 2002 graduate of King’s College in Charlotte, with a degree in Graphic Design and Graphic Arts.
