Unlocking the Secret of Seeds

It’s winter and you are thinking about spring planting. If you have ever considered starting your plants from seeds but it seemed like a daunting task, start your year off right by signing up for a free workshop that will address your questions and concerns.

The River Bend Community Organic Garden and Education Center announces its first workshop of the new year: Unlocking the Secrets of Seeds to be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 6:30 pm at River Bend Town Hall, 45 Shoreline Drive.

Area Specialized Agent Nicole Sanchez, NCSU College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, NCSU Cooperative Extension will discuss “demystifying seeds,” selecting the right types and quantities, and learning how to store them. Master Gardeners Audrey Williams and Michelle Leonard and RBCOG Coordinator Dee Smith will talk about seed viability, germination, and sowing in easy, homemade mini “greenhouses”.  There will be opportunities for Q&A at the conclusion of the presentation.

Following the workshop, refreshments will be served. Attendees are asked to reserve a space with an RSVP. Contact Dee Smith at 634-3192.
