Paint for a good cause on Thursday, October 17 from 6:30 to 9 pm at Bear Hands Art Factory. The painting for the evening will be New Bern Spires, a beautiful acrylic painting by Sandy Bruno, who will also lead the class for the evening. This painting depicts in colorful detail some of the more interesting church steeples and roof tops of historic downtown New Bern. Sandy Bruno will draw a guideline sketch on each canvas so that attendees can paint them in. Bruno guides participants in the painting process step-by-step to guarantee success. No artistic experience is required. The $40 fee includes two hours instruction, all the art materials and light appetizers. People are also invited to bring some wine or other beverages to enjoy at the party.
The Craven County Home Health Hospice Agency is a palliative and supportive care for dying persons and their families. Service are provided in the home by and interdisciplinary team of professionals and volunteers. Bereavement care is also available to the family. Funds raised go towards supplies, medications and medical equipment.
Operating with 18 volunteers, this agency provides support to families during the difficult process of dying and saying goodbye to family members. Skilled nurses give in home care focusing on pain and symptom relief. They also have Nurse Aide to assist with personal care, respite aide for the families, social workers and bereavement support. The volunteers spend time with the patients, provide pet therapy, music therapy, assist in the offer and perform acts of compassion both large and small to bring comfort and companionship at a very critical point in people’s lives.
