>The New Bern Lions are hosting their Fifth Annual Wine Gala & Silent Auction on May 17, 2012 at the Carolina Colours Country Club – 3300 Waterscape Way, New Bern NC 28562, starting at 6:30 pm. The event will be emceed by Major General Tom Braaten, USMC Retired. Delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres are being catered by the Sea Glass Café & Bakery. Cost of this fund raiser is $30 per person. The proceeds from the event are used to support the visually impaired and blind needy of our community with: eye exams; eye glasses; eye surgeries; leader dogs for the blind; white canes; eye research; disaster recovery assistance (Hurricane Irene); diabetes awareness and much more.
The New Bern Lions have been working to provide continued needed community services in Craven, Jones and Pamlico Counties since 1945.
Remember by your support you will be helping us to search for new ways to improve and enlarge the lives of the blind and visually impaired. As Helen Keller stated in her address, in 1925 to the Lions International Convention, “Will you not help us hasten the day when there shall be no preventable blindness, no little deaf child untaught, no blind man or women unaided?”
