>New Bern Woman’s Club hosts Student Arts Festival

>

Today I had the opportunity of seeing the artistic talents of our local students!

I visited the New Bern Women’s Club Annual Student Arts Festival where Craven County Middle and High School Students artwork was in the process of being judged at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in New Bern.

Each year students submit their artwork from January – December. The following January, judges review all the entries. January winners go to the District 8 Arts Festival to compete against students from Beaufort, Clayton, Goldsboro, Morehead City, Oriental, Williamston, and Wilson. From there, first place winners compete in the N.C. General Federation of Women’s Clubs State Arts Festival.

The judges at work were:
– Crafts: Diane McEwen;

– Visual: Joann Butterfield and Peggy Croftche;

– Literature: Larry Knapp

The students did a wonderful job demonstrating their creative abilities.
Special thanks to the New Bern Woman’s Club for hosting this unique event and to Barbara Lubsen, Chairman of the Arts CSP, for sharing the history the Arts Festival and everyone who made it happen!
