>BILLINGS, MT (January 2, 2012) – The New Bern KOA Campground, owned by Joel Tomaselli of Wilmington, NC and managed by Larry and Pat Holtzclaw, has been recognized as being among the “best of the best” in the Kampgrounds of America system that includes more than 475 campgrounds in North America.
The campground received both the 2011 Kampgrounds of America Founder’s Award and the President’s Award at a special ceremony recently at KOA’s Annual International Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The KOA President’s Award is given annually to campgrounds that receive the highest customer service scores from their campers. Each campground must also pass an annual quality inspection, which also factors into the award.
The KOA Founder’s Award gives special recognition to a select group of President’s Award recipients who receive the very best Camper Satisfaction scores in the KOA system. New Bern KOA ranked #8 in the KOA System for 2011. The award is named for KOA founder Dave Drum, who created the first KOA campground on the shores of the Yellowstone River in Billings, Montana in 1962.
“It’s always gratifying to be able to recognize our owners as being among the very best in the world at what they do,” said KOA President Pat Hittmeier. “This award is really presented by our campers to our KOA campground owners. They are the best of the best in the camping industry.”
