The Elizabeth II replica sailing ship docked at the New Bern Hilton Marina yesterday in preparation of this weekend’s four day 300th Birthday Celebration, September 16-19, 2010.
There are 21 events scheduled for New Bern’s massive 300th Birthday Jubilee! Chairman of the 300th Committee, Nelson McDaniel said, “There’s something for everyone and most everything is free and open to the public”.
With so many choices, it’s going to be hard to decide which events to attend. Some of the highlights to the celebration are twilight flotilla, re-enactments, NC Symphony performance, fireworks, heritage parade, concert at the New Bern Farmer’s Market, cultural festival, and much more! You may even get the opportunity to meet foreign and State dignitaries.
Leave your car at the New Bern Mall (in the parking lot behind JC Penny) and take the shuttle to various stops Downtown New Bern.
You can pick-up the “New Bern Three-Hundred “Official Jubilee Program Guide” at Mitchell Hardware and other businesses around town to read about all of the events. Or visit the 300th Anniversary Committee website for a detailed listing of events and contact information.
Looking forward to seeing everyone around town this weekend!
