Habitat for Humanity of Craven County and ReStore donated a GE Electric Stove to Anita Hardy, EC Job Coach at New Bern High School for the Bear Paws Pantry. Ms. Hardy recently established the Pantry to help students in the Occupational Course of Study program learn skills in understanding recipes and measurements, food preparation and cooking. Students will earn credits toward their requirements to graduate as well as learn about living a healthier life style. The Pantry will serve as a means to provide students in need, or who are going without meals at home, to receive food they can take home and prepare with the skills they learn in the program.
For the last two years, Habitat for Humanity of Craven County has enjoyed the students from Ms. Hardy’s OCS program who have been placed to work at the ReStore during the school year. “It is our goal to work with organizations and programs like the Bear Paws Pantry as part of Habitat’s Mission to build homes, communities and hope,” said Mike Williams, Executive Director of Habitat Craven County.
