Temple Baptist Church, 1500 Kingdom Way
February 23rd, 11am – 2pm
Help end local hunger and support the arts by participating in Empty Bowls, 11am – 2pm on February 23rd at Temple Baptist Church. Each $25 ticket to Empty Bowls serves up both delicious food and the opportunity to select and take home a hand-crafted piece of pottery while contributing to two great causes.
Empty Bowls raises money by selling tickets that entitle you to one handcrafted ceramic bowl, two bowls of soup, and bread to go along with your meal. Local potters donate more than a thousand bowls to choose from, and local restaurants and charities provide a wide variety of soup options for every palette. During your meal you’ll be seated in a caring, jovial atmosphere that radiates the warmth of New Bern’s residents and the message of the event.
Empty Bowls is a joint outreach of Religious Community Services and Craven Arts Council & Gallery. Last year’s event raised more than $21,000 that was used to fund the RCS food pantry and the Craven Arts Council’s outreach and creativity programs. The event involves numerous volunteers and organizations, including over a dozen potters; members of the Coastal Carolina Basketweavers Association; local business sponsors; two dozen restaurants; religious organizations; and individual volunteers.
Tickets are available in person at Fuller’s Music, Temple Baptist Church and Bank of the Arts; over the phone at 252-638-2577; or online at EmptyBowlsNewBern.org or www.CravenArts.org.
