>New Bern, NC – Temple B’nai Sholem in New Bern will present the film “Downhome – Jewish Life in North Carolina” by Dr. Leonard Rogoff at a special family night on Wednesday March 9 at 7:00 p.m.
“Downhome” was published in association with the Jewish Heritage Foundation of North Carolina, and was part of a larger documentary project that included the film and a traveling museum exhibition. Dr. Rogoff will be in attendance to introduce the film and answer questions. The film includes numerous references and pictures of Temple B’nai Sholem. In addition, the book and film includes a photograph taken from the Joseph Lipman wedding in 1911 which was held in New Bern.
The public is welcome to attend this event. The $5.00 admission includes the movie, a discussion and refreshments. It promises to be an educational and entertaining evening.
Founded in 1908, Temple B’nai Sholem is located at 505 Middle Street in New Bern’s beautiful Historic District, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The temple serves over 125 members residing in six coastal counties.
