I have a “sweet tooth.” In fact, I’ve told many of my clients that I’d be willing to argue that every single tooth in my entire mouth is a sweet tooth.
I love anything that’s rich with chocolate, peanut-butter, fudge, you name it. Oh Goodness! I can feel my waistband getting tighter just thinking about it…
For me, I had to learn early on in my fat loss journey that if I wanted to maintain a reasonable physique, I had to figure out a way to deal with desserts.
Cutting out desserts all together is simply not practical.
Just the thought of telling myself desserts are “off limits” makes me want them more! Can you relate?
One tactic that I learned from my friend Jill Coleman is called “Dessert Defense.”
Basically, we take traditional dessert recipes and make them fat loss friendlier.
Having a sweet tooth (or teeth) does not mean the end of your fitness goals. Rather, it just means that you have to get creative…
Play dessert defense!
To play dessert defense, I make my own clean baked goods and BRING THEM to parties, family dinners, etc. In the evening, I have a fat loss friendlier version of my favorite treat.
Here are a few of my BeyondFit Favorites:
{Coconut Flour & Squash} Brownies!
{Gluten & Sugar Free} Peanut Butter Cookies (just 4 ingredients!)
{Protein} Peanut Butter Milkshake
Playing dessert defense is a great way to enjoy dessert and still stay on track. I speak from experience when I tell you that your taste buds (or sweet teeth) AND your waistline will thank you!
P.S. What’s your favorite fat loss friendly dessert recipe? I’d love for you to share it with me (and the rest of our sweet tooth mamas!)
