Greg Golike, former PIE board member who established the Weyerhaeuser Grant when it was originally funded by Weyerhaeuser, and now representing International Paper, and his wife, retired teacher Mary Golike presented Partners In Education with the Spring Cycle PIE Grant check. Mary was a PIE Ambassador through Creekside Elementary before her retirement. This is a first year partnership with International Paper. The grant provides funding for assistance to Craven County Schools’ educators for hands-on activities in math and science. This grant program, administered by Partners In Education, allows our teachers the opportunity to purchase materials for activities in the classroom without having to spend money out of their own pocket. The winners are:
– Growing Great Minds, $250.00 – Ashley Lawrance Alicea, W Jesse Gurganus Elementary – W.J. Gurganus PTO
– Takey the Makey Challenge!, $250.00 – Heather N. Montero, Grover C. Fields Middle School
