>National Healthcare Decisions Day, April 16, is a day to stop, think and talk with your family members about each person’s wishes at the end of their life. It is one thing that we might be able to control when it comes to our dying. But we can only do this if we have a rather difficult conversation with our loved ones. We must talk about what it is we want or don’t want, and then we must put it into a legal document and make certain our physicians have it.
On April 16th across the nation, people will be taking time to think about and talk about their healthcare wishes. An advance directive sets forth your desires for end of life care, as well as other forms of care. Many North Carolina organizations are a part of this day and you can find them all on the website.
Locally, we will host an event at the CarolinaEast Medical Center Auditorium on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 6pm. There will be a panel discussion with Dr. Monteiro, Chaplain Bostian, and attorney Jennifer Dacey. The event is FREE and is open to the public. Please do RSVP to contact listed below.
