Nestled between the Neuse and Trent Rivers, New Bern is a haven for boaters, fishermen, and watersports fanatics! From large Marinas to off the path boat ramps, you’ll find them here!

Fishing is plentiful! Some of the water is brackish so you can catch both salt water and fresh water fish, but you may need both licenses, so check the fishing regulations.

The Croatan National Forest is a “Nature Lover’s Paradise” and it’s in our backyard! Discover carnivorous plants like the Venus flytrap, pitcher plant, sundew, along with other exotic plants. The Croatan spans approximately 160,000 acres. It’s home to black bear, deer, wild turkey, quail, coyotes, bald eagles, beaver, bobcats, porcupine, alligator, and other wildlife species. Visit the Ranger’s Station on Hwy 70 E (638-5628).

Walk to End Alzheimer’s Scheduled for November 3rd

New Bern Walk to End Alzheimers 2019

The New Bern Walk to End Alzheimer’s enters its seventh year November 3rd again at the Galley Store and Marina East Front Street.  Hundreds of walkers have raised over $200,000 from their friends, relatives and business associates across the US to help the Alzheimer’s Association raise awareness, fund research and patient care.  This year’s committee, headed by Georgiana Bircher, has been planning the event for the past few months and is about to “paint the town purple” that Sunday afternoon beginning at 2PM.  Many events are happening weekly all over New Bern like “Paint it Forward for Alzheimer’s”, Sept 24th […]

Voluntary Evacuation Order Issued for 2pm Wednesday for Zone A

Four shelters opening in advance of hurricane Dorian City officials have received word from Craven County leaders that a voluntary evacuation order has been issued for residents living in Zone A as of 2pm Wednesday, September 4th.  Four shelters are being opened to accommodate evacuees. Craven County is participating in a pilot program called the NC Know Your Zone evacuation program, facilitated by the NC Department of Safety.  According to the County’s website, NC Know Your Zone (KYZ) is a new tiered evacuation system that highlights areas most at risk to storm surge and flooding impacts from hurricanes, tropical storms, […]
