Simon Spalding will present an eclectic program of unplugged acoustic music at The Brown Pelican, two Tuesdays in February. It’s a fun, informal show, as Simon shares the history and backstory behind his songs and instruments. The instruments include the familiar (violin, banjo, ukulele), and a weekly-changing selection of exotic music and instruments from places including Sweden, China, Greece, Tahiti, Mongolia, and who-knows-where? The Neuse River Ramblers present a free concert at Riverside United Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon, February 9. The Sunday afternoon concert will be in the Fellowship Hall of Riverside United Methodist Church. The Neuse River Ramblers add a touch of Bluegrass flavor to traditional and contemporary tunes. The band members create arrangements that allow for improvisation and free expression within a structured context. The Rotary Club of New Bern’s Sham-Rockin’ 2020, A St. Patrick’s Celebration, is coming Friday, March 13th. The event will be held again at the North Carolina History Center, overlooking the Trent River in New Bern.
