Craven County Recreation and Parks presents Golf Lessons, Volleyball, Kayaking, and more!

Craven County Recreation and Parks

Craven County Recreation & Parks Department is sponsoring Golf Lessons starting Tuesday, April 5 at The Emerald Golf Club. Classes are from 6 – 7 pm, every Tuesday, for four weeks. Fee for the class is $75 per registrant or $140 for two from a family. We will cover fundamentals of the game:  Set-up, putting, chipping, pitching, full swing, rules and etiquette. Join the Girls Volleyball League held at Vanceboro Farm Life Gym. Girls in grades 4th-9th are eligible. The league will be separated grades 4 – 6 and 7 – 9. Games and practices are held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in March – May.  Cost of the league is $40. For more information contact Mark Seymour.

We’re excited to announce the return of Boot Camp for Women. This program is a great 30 – 40 min workout modified for any age range and fitness level, our instructor will work with you to accomplish your individual goals and jump-start your summer body! This program never has the same workout twice, always challenging and a lot of fun. Classes start April 4th and will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 5:30pm for 6 weeks at Creekside Park. New this year will be the introduction of Boxing Boot Camp classes with Pro MMA Fighter Jamie Pickett. For more information, email Steven Aster or Tara Johnson.

We are working on a playground project at Creekside Park. This project will replace the existing first playground at Creekside Park. Our three main focuses of this playground are for it to be inclusive, to have areas for children 2 – 5 years old and adding shade to the area. We are starting a Brick Campaign to raise money to go towards the purchase and installation of the new playground. You can purchase a brick in memory or in honor of someone or just to support the playground. For more information, contact Billy Wilkes at 252-636-6606, ext. 5.

Craven County Recreation & Parks Department, Twin Rivers Paddle Club, and Sound Rivers are sponsoring a Kayaking Class starting Thursday, April 7 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm at Creekside Park. The class will run every Thursday for four weeks. Cost for the class is $50 per person.  For more information, contact Mark Seymour.

We’re also offering a chance for beginners to learn about the game of Sand Volleyball. All of the basics will be taught including serving, hitting & movement.  Ages 9 – 14 are eligible for this program.  This program will be offered on Mondays from 5pm-6pm during the month of April.
