Craven County Recreation and Parks Department and The Emerald Golf Club are teaming up to form a county golf league. Teams will consist of two persons, male, female or co-ed and will play in a match-play format. The league will begin on Wednesday September 4 and finish on Sunday October 20. Matches will begin (9 holes) at 5:30 pm on all four Wednesdays in September then move to 4:30 pm on Sunday afternoons beginning October 6 and 13. The league will conclude with 18 holes on Sunday, October 20. Cost is $150 per person and prizes will be awarded to the top teams along with a cookout on the last day. The Craven County Recreation Department is sponsoring a Coed Sand Volleyball League at Creekside Park. Creekside Park now has 4 sand volleyball courts that are ready for play. This sand volleyball league will be held on Sundays starting September 15 for ages 14 & up. Cost per team is $75 and the deadline to register a team is September 8 at 5pm. Special Olympics Craven County, with the New Bern and Tryon Civitans, is planning their Craven’s Got Talent fundraiser for Saturday, September 28. This Variety show will feature several local acts, as well as some new and exciting acts to make for a night of affordable, family fun. Tickets for the show are $5.00 and are on sale at various locations in New Bern. Please call for details. 100% of the proceeds go to benefit Special Olympics athletes of Craven County.
