The Havelock Chamber of Commerce and Allies for Cherry Point are pleased to present “A Federal Update” luncheon on Monday, August 26, 2013. Many issues are facing the United States Marine Corps and the Department of Defense. The two largest issues are force reduction in the Marine Corps and other branches of the military and the Sequestration cuts to the civilian workforce. MCAS Cherry Point has an economic impact of $2.2 billion in Craven and the surrounding counties. How are these changes going to affect the economic impact of the Eastern Region? Even more so, how are these changes going to affect the State of North Carolina and the local municipalities and county governments?
Congressman Walter B Jones has agreed to speak at this event. Additionally, Col Blayne Spratlin, Commanding Officer of FRC-East will be providing a workload update. Others have been invited to speak but have not been confirmed. Updates on speakers will be made available on our website, www.havelockchamber.org and our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/havelock.chamber as they are confirmed.
We invite you to attend our event to learn more about the economic engine of Eastern North Carolina and the largest industrial employer east of I-95.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 am and speakers will begin at Noon at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center, 201 Tourist Center Drive, Havelock. Lunch is $15 and advanced ticket purchase is required for planning purposes. Please contact the Havelock Chamber of Commerce office at (252) 447-1101 or email stephanie@havelockchamber.org for questions, comments and ticket purchase options.
We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you on Monday, August 26.
