At the January 18th Coastal Women’s Forum luncheon, Claudia Houston, President of CWF, made a presentation to Jan Hood, Executive Director of Promise Place. Each year, CWF chooses a non-profit organization to which donations are made by individual members. Our members donated $845 and the CWF organization added to this an additional $250. Therefore, CWF was able to make a contribution of $1,095 to Promise Place and hopes that this assists them in continuing their significant work in our community.
Promise Place treats victims of sexual abuse and their families. Their vision is simple: Promise Place is the leader in empowering families and individuals to live happy, healthy, productive lives free of violence.Jan Hood stated, “It is a problem that most people do not want to know or talk about”. But, abuse happens every day and in every community. Craven County is fortunate to have Promise Place working to address these issues and to protect victims. Promise Place relies on donations and grants to fund its necessary work. Ms. Hood was incredibly grateful for the donation. Thank you to all our CWF members who contributed to make this donation a most welcomed surprise.
