Striped bass are returning from their spawning run up river on the Neuse and the fishing has been red hot!
Although the “keeper” season is closed there is plenty of catch and release action near New Bern. Early and late day top water lure catches have been great on both spinning and fly rods, with sub-surface weighted streamer flies and jigs landing plenty of fish before and after the top water bite.
Get in on the action now as things will slow down as rising water temperatures will slow down the bite.
After a bite of a slow down, red drum, specks and flounder fishing is starting to improve and should be at it’s peak a little down river of New Bern. A few “yearling” 30 inch fish have come to the boat lately and we’ll see many more in June.
