|Last Year’s Earth Week Activities at Union Point Park|
Less Means More, a Craven County Water Conservation Initiative is pleased to sponsor Earth Week 2011, April 11-15.
In addition to the annual promotion of environmental awareness and stewardship, Earth Week will focus on educational programs targeted for 5th graders in the Craven County Schools. Six elementary schools will participate in Earth Week activities at Union Point Park April 11-13: Graham Barden, Roger Bell, Oaks Road, James W. Smith, Vanceboro, and Annunciation School.
Students will rotate through five (5) educational stations featuring Water Systems, Water Conservation Tips Inside, Water Conservation Tips Outside, Water Quality and Composting. Participants will be given goody bags filled with educational materials and follow up activities are provided.
As part of earth Week 2011, nominations recognizing businesses and organizations that demonstrate compliance in water conservation efforts are encouraged and requested. A nomination form listing criteria is available on-line at www.water-lessmeansmore.com, or by contacting Craven County Water Department at 252-636-6615 or by e-mailing Rusty Hayes or Tim McLear. Nomination forms are also available at the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce. Nominations must be submitted by April 8, 2011.
